Animal Health

As most farmer’s stocks of forage have depleted at this stage after the long winter, the only alternative is to open the gates and let the animals off to grass. Cows rearing calves are especially at risk of Grass Tetany and it is

imperative the a magnesium supplement is given to the cow on turn-out to grass. There are a number of ways

of doing this a)

  1. Use Hi-Magnesium Molassed Based Lick Buckets
  2. Give the cow’s a Magnesium Bolus
  3. Apply “dusting cal-mag” to the pasture.

Please note that these methods only aid in the prevention of Grass Tetany.
